If you know me well, you’d know that I’ve never been a huge fan of working outside in the cold winter, but for events like these, I can’t get enough. The music, the excitement, the family entertainment, the art, the annual cheer is just as awesome as it was the year before.

Every year, caricatures is a huge hit, and every year I look forward to coming back and helping to make thier community event entertainment successful. I can’t wait to go back next year!

Check out this really awesome caricature I did of this event go-er and her pet pup. I have never seen a dog sit so well for a photo! So cute! We all had a great time!

In Maine, I drew through midnight- just in time to catch a 3am – 6am event in Newmarket! I honestly think this is the latest gig I’ve done yet, but the experience for me, and for the kids really makes it all worth it!

I will have to sleep though, before my 5:30pm gig in Charlotte, VT less than 12 hours away. I really feel like I’m on tour here! Luckily, I’m a night owl most nights and I love to travel and entertain, because when June events roll in, I am really put to the test!

This is always the month of late-night graduation events. It’s always the month of LOTS of travelling, lots of smiling faces, and honestly, quite a bit of missed sleep- but it’s the season… Caricature season, and I’ve got to work hard to make all of these events a success. There really is something special knowing you’re an important part of the entertainment and blessed with the artistic opportunity to provide a live performance that blows your clients away.

This particular graduation event in Sanford, ME was really memorable. The kids started egging me on with their contagious laugh responses to my caricature art, so some of them came out pretty silly. There were so many amazing caricatures, I have lots of pictures to share with you.

I did two of them in Portland on Sunday. It was a whirlwind of energy!
These kids are hilarious.
First, I was on a graduation celebration cruise to start my night. There was a DJ on board, one of the best I’ve seen at a graduation event thus far. The energy was outrageous! Think about 150+ high school seniors jumping up and down on a 100 foot square area while you’re moving in the water on a party boat and trying to draw caricatures! I will say that learning to draw while you’re moving is another skill it itself-and this is an art skill I think I did pretty good at! I was drawing with a colleague of mine. She’s actually my favorite artist to work with. We both had students lined up in the multiple dozens for caricatures. The best part about this gig was definitely the student reactions! They were so entertained, laughing and ooh’ing and whoa’ing. It was awesome! It really feels good to know that you can entertain at that level.

My second gig was down the road. It was another grad party with even more high energy students excited to be drawn as cartoon caricatures. I was with my same artist friend. She and I set up against a wall in one of the side hallways. Behind us were ceiling to floor windows. We literally had an audience of students watching outside and making faces, excited behind us while their friends who were getting drawn watched their reactions. It was a super treat.
